Integrating Islamic Principles in Contemporary Business Management a Comprehensive Framework for Shariah-Compliant Organizational Governance

Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive examination of Islamic business management as a distinctive paradigm integrating spiritual values, ethical principles, and operational excellence within contemporary organizational contexts. Drawing upon foundational Islamic sources the Qur'an and Sunnah and contemporary scholarly discourse, this study articulates the core principles underpinning Shariah-compliant business management: tawhid (divine oneness), 'adl (justice), amanah (trustworthiness), maslahah (public welfare), and ihsan (benevolence). The paper explores how these principles permeate managerial functions planning, organizing, leading, and controlling while addressing practical challenges facing Islamic business enterprises in the modern global economy. Particular attention is given to the integration of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah as a strategic framework for sustainable business development, the role of Islamic corporate governance in ensuring compliance and ethical accountability, and emerging opportunities presented by digital transformation. The findings suggest that Islamic business management offers a robust ethical alternative to conventional management paradigms, capable of fostering organizational sustainability, stakeholder well-being, and broader socio-economic development. Successful implementation requires structural reforms, enhanced Shariah literacy, and institutional support. This paper contributes to the growing literature on Islamic management by providing an integrated framework bridging theoretical principles with practical applications for business leaders, policymakers, and scholars.
